MONITORS & LIZARDS

| If you don't already have the Savannah Monitor Lizard book by Bennett and Ravi, or one of our PE Temp Guns, we STRONGLY suggest picking them up for your collection. These are MUST HAVES! The $20 Savannah Monitor book covers every aspect of monitor husbandry, from setup, temps, feeding, breeding and more. There are other affordable "pet shop" monitor books out there, including other Savannah books. They are, honestly, terrible. They should NOT be considered a substitute for this title. Regardless of the species you work with, this book can help you to better keep your own monitor, in fact, just about any lizard. Monitor husbandry is 99% consistent across the board between species, with only subtle variances, so ANY GOOD MONITOR LITERATURE is GOOD MONITOR LITERATURE FOR YOU. If you keep lizards or monitors, get this book! The PE-1 Temp Gun at $30 is the MOST IMPORTANT HUSBANDRY TOOL you can have. Proper temps in your setup are absolutely essential, and PE Temp Guns are the most reliable, accurate, and economical way to establish and monitor your temperatures. Dials, color strips, and similar junk are no substitute for an Infrared Temperature Gun. A lazy keeper looking for disposable animals won't care about the above "tools". A dedicated passionate hobbyist and breeder would consider them to be absolute essentials. Do yourself, and your animals, a huge favor and pick up this book, a Temp Gun, and the other essentials listed on our reptile Pro Packs! We want to ensure your enjoyment and success, but it takes committment from both sides! |

Sumatran Water Monitors
The prettiest Water monitors come from Sumatra, and our babies have fantastic color and pattern! If you want the biggest lizard you can buy, the Water monitor is the choice for you! If you want the best selection of the prettiest and most outstanding Water monitors in the country, PE is the stop for you! Check out our caresheet, check out our photo gallery, and decide for yourself if our animals aren't the prettiest, healthiest, and strongest you have ever seen! We go through enormous effort to offer the best monitors, and our animals reflect that. We want each customer to choose the right animal, and to have the best chance of success, and our customer service will get you the result you need! SOLD OUT- We are taking a Water Monitor break for a while, so we can concentrate on other lizard groups. We have no specific time frame for bringing in new babies, perhaps for 2010. In the meantime, try LLLReptile.com, they have access to the same babies that we select from, and while no one puts in as much time with picking and polishing babies that PE does, LLL will still have some fine Sumatrans. |

Ionides (Blackthroat) Monitors
For years the Ionides was our favorite monitor. For the widest and most varied group of keepers, from beginners to advanced keepers, the
Ackies are the best choice, but the Ionides are not far behind. I can
never say enough about these terrific lizards. If you want a big
lizard, these are simply the best choice. Great personality, strong and durable as a tank, they tame very well, and they are simply a joy
to keep. They reach 6 ft. like the Water monitors, and certainly carry
good weight, but they are not nearly as massive as a big Water, making
the caging and husbandry requirements less demanding, making for a
more reasonable pet monitor. I have never met a dissatisfied Ionides |

Red
Acanthurus Monitors
This is the number one choice for a pet monitor, period! The Ackies are simply as close to perfect as nature has come. Terrific personality, amazingly hardy, very social, and appropriate for all levels of experience, you can't go wrong with a group of these super monitors. They are relatively small (most of our breeders hover at the 2 ft. mark), making them easy to setup and cage, and they do well in singles or in small groups, putting on quite the entertaining show every day! If you have thought about Bearded Dragons, or another "starter lizard", give the Ackies a couple hours of your time, and find out for yourself why they are sweeping the monitor world, bringing us new converts every day! |

Peachthroat Monitors |
Peachies are a great mid-sized monitor. Unbelievably pretty, and quite active. A Pro Exotics favorite, we only offer the highest quality, healthiest babies available! Peachie babies are only available a handful of times a year, so you gotta be ready to jump when they go on sale. Don't miss your chance on these gorgeous monitors! f.h. babies- High quality farmed Peachie babies are few and far between. They don't often meet our very high standards, so at this time, we are not looking to bring in Peachie babies. Contact us directly and we can point you in the direction of a captive breeder of the Peachthroat monitor with limited baby availability. |

Green Tree Monitors |
(Prasinus)- NOT FOR SALE- These are unbelievably beautiful monitors, but very rarely bred in captivity. The most recent limited success has been in a few U.S. zoos, and in some European collections. Either way, those babies are not available to the public. The only Prasinus you may see for sale will be imported wild caught adults, which are difficult to keep alive, and definitely not recommended. We have a nice group of Prasinus chugging right along, we have healthy animals, we get eggs, even viable eggs, but as of yet, no hatchlings. We will continue to work with this terrific monitor, but no matter how sweetly you ask, we do not have any for sale, sorry. |

Gila Monsters |
An absolutely terrific lizard! One of our favorites, but approach these with caution, they are venomous! Gilas are hearty, interesting lizards. Very easy to keep, but being HOT, they are not for beginners, nor for those who cannot be completely responsible for their animals, collections, and exposure. They are a challenging species to breed, and while we continue to refine our captive breeding techniques, we do have a limited number of PE babies for sale each year. We work with both Banded (Heloderma s. cinctum) and Reticulated (Heloderma s. suspectum) animals, and while both are stunningly beautiful, neither is reliably sexed as a baby or juvenile. Contact us for Gila availability, it is very limited, and very seasonal. u.s.c.b. 09 babies expected in the late fall |
